When should SALONPAS® Pain Relief Patch/SALONPAS® Arthritis Pain NOT be used?
The product should not he used on wounds or damaged skin; if allergic to aspirin or other NSAIDs; right before or after heart surgery; with a heating pad; when sweating (such as from exercise or heat), on the face or over rashes, or if the pouch containing the patch has been open for more than 14 days (to ensure maximum effectiveness). The patch should not be used during the last trimester of pregnancy.

What is an NSAID?

What are the active ingredients in SALONPAS® Pain Relief Patch/SALONPAS® Arthritis Pain?
Menthol and methyl salycilate. Both are analgesics or pain relievers. Methyl salycilate is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug).

Can SALONPAS® Pain Relief Patch/SALONPAS® Arthritis Pain be taken along with other oral pain relief products?
Yes, but a doctor should be consulted first and it is important to read both product labels carefully. The chance of a stomach bleed is small, but is higher if other drugs containing an NSAID are taken (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, or others). If taking a diuretic, a doctor must be consulted before use. Only one patch may be used at a time.

How soon should I expect relief?
Pain relief generally occurs within one hour of application, but in some individuals, pain relief may take longer. Some individuals may not experience pain relief until several hours after applying the patch.

What are the benefits of applying SALONPAS® Pain Relief Patch or SALONPAS® Arthritis Pain instead of taking a pill?
Compared to pills, the chance of stomach bleeding is small. The patch delivery system allows for direct delivery of the active ingredient to the site of the pain and provides the option of discontinuing medication use. While many oral non-prescription pain relief medications require a dose every 4-6 hours, the effectiveness of SALONPAS® Pain Relief Patch/SALONPAS® Arthritis Pain lasts up to 12 hours.

What is the difference between SALONPAS® Pain Relief Patch/SALONPAS® Arthritis Pain and other OTC pain relief patches?
This product is the first and only FDA-approved OTC pain relief patch for the temporary relief of mild to moderate aches and pains. All other OTC pain relief patches are for only minor pain. While effectiveness of other OTC pain relief patches last up to 8 hours, effectiveness of SALONPAS® Pain Relief Patch/SALONPAS® Arthritis Pain lasts up to 12 hours.

No. SALONPAS® Pain Relief Patch/SALONPAS® Arthritis Pain is the first and only FDA -approved OTC pain relief patch.

Can I reapply SALONPAS® to another site after I’ve peeled it off?
There is no problem reapplying a SALONPAS® patch to another site just after you’ve applied and peeled it off. After several hours it will lose its adhesiveness and fall off easily. In this case, please use a fresh SALONPAS®.

Can children use SALONPAS® products?
Children under 18 yeas of age should not use SALONPAS® PAIN RELIEF PATCH and SALONPAS® ARTHTIS PAIN,

Can children use SALONPAS® products?
SALONPAS® products can be used for children 12 years old age and over. Parents of children under the age of 12 should consult with a pediatrician before applying SALONPAS® to a child.

SALONPAS® GEL can be used for children 2 years of age and over.
